Waterproof Membrane

WATERPROOF MEMBRANE BASED ON BITUMEN WITH A GLASS FIBRE ENLAY OR POLYESTER FIBRE WITH OR WITHOUT A MINERAL GRIT.
Lifetime Waterproof Membrane is a waterproofing layer used in the protection of the roofs of buildings. The Bituminous membrane has outstanding properties of impermeability, adhesiveness and resistance to temperatures.
Lifetime Waterproof Membrane is therefore:
- Flexible
- Elastic
- Perforation resistant
- Non Rotting
- Tear resistant
- Dimensibility stable
- Resistant to temperatures and aging
- Guaranteed
EQUIPMENT
For the application of the membrane the following equipment is required:
- a propane gas cylinder
- a burner for flame application
APPLICATION

The application of Lifetime membrane is very easy and fast. Roll down the membrane in the prescribed direction and align it to the roof edge or base sheet. The partially re-roll it taking care not to alter the alignment. Starting at the low point in the roof and while urolling the membrane apply heat by using a propane torch to the outer surface of the roll until the modified bitumen reaches the application temperature (approximately 150° c or 310° F) causing the compound to soften.
Do not overheat the membrane to a point where smoke starts to come out. Move the flame from side to side while unrolling the membrane by slightly pressing it to the underlying surface. Avoid shifting the roll while unrolling follow the edge of the roof or the lap line. All overlaps should have at least 1/4″ bleeding or flow-out at the seams. In order to have a smooth and even seal at the joint, apply the flame to the bleed out and the trowel simultaneously and spread the melted compound evenly to seal the joint. To ensure sound lap sealing additional pressure to these areas is recommended. This can be achieved by walking over the seams. Avoid too much heating at this point.
To begin the second row, position a roll over the upper edge of the starter roll and allow a 4″ side lap over the underlying membrane roll, proceed torching the full roll as described above working your way to the highest point on the roof always maintaining a 4″ side lap and 6″ end lap.
If you are using a Slate/Granule surfaced product remove the release paper on the lap line before torching the overlapping membrane. Do not torch the release paper. Take special care to prevent the mopping asphalt from running on to the adjacent granular surface marring the exposed surface of the adjacent roll, Caution should be taken not to apply Lifetime membranes in severe weather conditions. Under no circumstances unroll Lifetime membranes when temperatures are below-1° C or F.
